Climate Change will be affecting and bringing about changes in people's lifestyles and livelihoods. It is WWF's aim to enable climate change adaptation measures to be put in place for the selected sites (under this project) in the Himalayan region, across India and Nepal, and climate impacts are lucidly communicated in support of efforts to curb global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2015.

Keeping in focus WWF's mission of minimising climate change impacts on people, cosystems and livelihoods in Himalayan river basins, the main objectives of this project are:

To generate a better understanding of future climate change impacts on Ganga River ecosystems and vulnerable communities for the development of adaptation strategies.

To develop and begin implementation of pilot adaptation strategies in the
selected sites (ecosystems and vulnerable communities).

To raise the awareness of Climate Change impacts on Himalayan river basins and urge specific decision makers within the region to take appropriate action.
